From its inception, Neighbor Up Brevard has spearheaded collaborative, multi-faceted efforts to improve the living conditions, economic prospects, and social well-being of residents in the Booker T. Washington Park neighborhood. Keeping with the mission and vison of the organization, the Greater Heights Apartment Community was developed in 2009. Through partnerships with resident leaders, local government agencies, churches, faith-based institutions, private developers, other nonprofits organizations and community groups, Neighbor Up Brevard was able to develop 18 units of affordable rental housing; transforming the neighborhood formerly known as “the bottoms” into an oasis of hope and inspiration for a better tomorrow.
For over 15 years, residents of Greater Heights have not only enjoyed the security of long-term affordable housing; they have also gained increased access to supportive services and resources that promote economic self-sufficiency like resident empowerment activities, training opportunities; youth tutoring and mentoring; and health and wellness workshops that offer individuals and families access to the skills, knowledge, and resources they need to participate actively in their community and soar to greater heights.
Greater Heights offers one, two, three, and four-bedroom apartments for working families and seniors with low to moderate incomes. The colorful Key West-themed apartments were built amidst century old live oaks and are a beautiful reflection of God’s character, aiming to create a flourishing community where all individuals, regardless of income, have access to safe, decent, and affordable living spaces. Amenities include lawn service, pest control, central heat and air, electric appliances and washer and dryer hookups.
